Name: Asam Israel CohenBirthdate:September 15, 1988

Background/Childhood:Asam grew up the middle of three other siblings, one being his twin sister. His family was normal, no real problems to speak of except for the usual family dynamics. When he started school, it was quickly apparent that he didn't like it. He started claiming he was sick, when his parents forced him to go to school, he would skip. Finally on one of the rare occasions he actually went to class, he discovered art, that became the only reason he would go to school. He never made any friends however, and was labled a freak by his classmates. Often his art teacher, Mr. Lowery, would find him hiding in the art room, and no matter how much he coaxed, Asam would never leave the room. He only seemed to socalize with his twin sister, and would actually go to classes he had with her...sometimes. When he was younger, he was given the diagnosis of Asperger's syndrom and placed in a special ed class. He didn't do well in the class however, and was soon transferred to a normal class with his sister.
His parents took him to another psychologist who suggested he was in the early stages of Schoziphrenia and offered instutaliznation as a way of 'fixing' him. Soon his parents had checked him into Cherry Hollow. Asam moves up from the first floor children's ward this month after turning 18. His parents and siblings visit him often, and mail him art supplies all the time so he won't run out. They are always cheerful even if he doesn't appear to be making much progress.
